Our Topeka Rowing's Mixed Master 4X team comprised of Greg, Darren, Mia and Stephanie traveled to Nashville, TN to compete in the Music City Head Race, a 4,800M course in Downtown Nashville. This was the first time competing on this course and the team took Bronze!
Topeka Rowing headed to Des Moines to compete with 20 clubs. Due to flooding on the river, the event was moved to nearby Easter Lake where the team got to practice their beach launches! All in all a great day of racing with the team bringing home medals in 4 out of the 6 races we competed in, 3 GOLD and 1 SILVER!! https://legacy.herenow.com/results/#/races/21282/results
We had a great day as one of the Passport Stops for the Tour Topeka Lake Shawnee event. Participants had the opportunity to learn about all of the great programs and activities at Lake Shawnee. Activities included a 5k Walk/Run, biking the trail, visiting vendors, touring the Topeka Rowing Association Boathouse, canoeing provided by SCP+R, mini disc golf, fitness classes and so much more!
Topeka Rowing Association joined Manhattan Rowing Club to compete in 1000m sprints at Tuttle Creek Lake. Several new members were able to compete in their first event, including our new Juniors Women's Double! Congrats to all!
Topeka Rowing Association held a Learn to Row event at Lake Shawnee in coordination with the National Learn to Row day. Approximately 20 participants learned the basic mechanics of rowing, equipment instruction, safety awareness and had the opportunity to go out in a shell on the water with club members.
6 Team Members traveled to Wichita to compete on the Little Arkansas River on a 2,450M course. The team competed in Men's Double, Women's Double, Mixed Quad and Men's Quad (Bronze).
The team competed throughout the day in 4000M races and in 500M night sprints.
It was a great experience and we brought home some bling, coming in 2nd and 3rd in Men’s Quad 4000M - with a little help from the ladies!
We even had a Topeka Rowing/KSU Crew collaboration in the Parent Child night sprint that brought home a Silver Medal as well!
Topeka Rowing Association competed on a 5,000M course on the Des Moines River. The team competed in Men's, Women's and Mixed Doubles and Men's Quad. Men's Double and Mixed Double teams both took home Bronze.
Topeka Rowing Association hosted students from Braille Camp for visually impaired students as part of the Extended School year program with local districts. The students spent time on ergs learning the basics, took turns working with oars in "the Box" and had the opportunity to go out in boats with club members.
Topeka Rowing Association joined regional clubs to compete in Manhattan, Kansas. 8 team members made the trip and competed in a variety of 1000M Sprints along the dam at Tuttle Creek.
Topeka Rowing Association held an Intro to Rowing class on Saturday June 25th. Topics included items such as proper rowing technique, equipment review, boat safety and terminology.
11 team members competed in Men's Quad, Mixed Quads, Women's Quad and Men's Doubles, earning Silver and Bronze in the Men's Quad and Silver in the Men's Double.
